Subject

Somfy aimed to update one of its control systems for roll-up garage doors. This one offers front panel control, a courtesy light, automatic obstacle detection, remote status verification, and the ability to detect break-in attempts through door lifting.

Before

Current control systems for roll-up garage doors is obsolete.

This product has been on the market for 10 years. With continuous technological advancements, it is essential for this item to evolve as well. When renewing the product line, it was crucial to first reconsider its uses, then to adopt Somfy's new design language.

I explored various form and ergonomic directions through mood boards and sketching. I then developed the concepts in 3D to define volumes and component integration, followed by 2D interface refinement and full-scale (1:1) validation of button dimensions.
